THE COLLECTION
‘Their dresses always supplied a rich note of colour...Paisley shawls with elaborate designs ...that gave them an almost oriental appearance.’
Paul Henry - An Irish Portrait
Inspired by the richness of Ireland's textile history, from Irish lace to the iconic paisley shawls, Lou has translated these references into her award-winning collection of luxury scarves.
Original hand-drawn illustrations celebrate themes of heritage, romance and beauty, bringing the poetry of these stories to life.
The latest collection, ‘Crochet Collage’ celebrates the story of Irish crochet which was officially recognised as unique practice of Irish ‘living cultural heritage’ in 2019.
The collection tells the universal story of how patterns travel with people. The paisley pattern itself has travelled the silk routes from East to West and the craft of Irish crochet was inspired by and adapted from Venetian Point lace and is practised the world over.
An exciting development is the new range of scarves using the softest 100% merino wool and knitted in a family owned mill in the West of Ireland.
Being reversible, the scarves offer a range of styling options echoing the original Irish shawls which were often worn, 'light side out for Sunday Best'.
Each order is supplied with a booklet explaining the story behind the shawls, and a postcard, making the scarves a perfect gift too.
All silk scarves are packaged with a cotton dust bag embroidered with a specially woven label that says the following:
"An rud is annamh is iontach" – "What is seldom is wonderful."
Gift packaging is available on request.
